Stockholm Early Music Festival 2005

WELCOME TO STOCKHOLM EARLY MUSIC FESTIVAL 2-5 JUNE 2005!
Read all about the festival at www.semf.se
After three successful years, Stockholm's and Sweden´s festival for early
music returns for a fourth season. This event, with its international
profile, provides the repertoire from the middle ages, renaissance and
baroque, with a living forum in the present.
Once again, SEMF offers a combination of celebrated international stars and
new talents in the early music field. Earlier years favourites as Jordi
Savall and Andreas Scholl will this year be followed by the Italian
ensemble Il Giardino Armonico, internationally renowned for its exuberant
interpretations of baroque music. The Swedish early music élite is
represented by the lute player Jakob Lindberg, the recorder player Dan
Laurin, and the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir. Other features include
folk-inspired Bach interpretations, the original Carmina Burana, as well as
Belorussian medieval music.
The festival, which takes place in the Old Town (Gamla stan), incorporates
three concert series: evening concerts in the German Church, afternoon
concerts in the Finnish Church and lunch-time concerts in the Royal Coin
Cabinet. Events for children and seminars are also included in the festival
programme.
SEMF is under the patronage of HM Queen Silvia of Sweden.
It's never too late for early music! Welcome!
