You are totally right, the documentation is bad this days.

We (pam & I) working on setting up a dedicated website to hdt with many 
surprises.
I'm currently working on backporting the documentation and updating it.
So, there is no need at the moment to update that wiki page.

One the new website will be up, if  english native speakers could take a 
few to review it or adding stuff, I'd be lovely.
