Yes, agreed.  I need to re-merge with Sam and make sure it doesn't break 
any core functionality (in particular, the initrd emulation needs to 
work in the presence of klibc; not a particularly difficult thing to do 
but it has to actually get done.)

So I'm a bit embarrassed of how long it's taken, but I'm really trying 
to get there.
