the debian initramfs-tools rely on klibc hope you find a fix soon :)

i don't have much gentoo knownledge.
here are some cross binutils and gcc's for debian:
http://debian.speedblue.org/
they should be easy to fetch.

if that's not working i've an alpha box you could get access,
just ping me.
