afair kbuild needed PAGE_SIZE definition for sparc,
otherwise you got:

my patch was so hacky adding this to MCONFIG,
that i didn't dare to submit it.

the 03-sparc-fix-paths.diff i see in latest ubuntu is not mine,
not sure if that fixes the debian run-init sparc bug, will try out
